Membership of SSS provides member clubs and organisations such as the Scottish Ski Club with 2 tiers of insurance benefit, and a range of 10 other additional support services.

INSURANCE BENEFIT TIER 1

The first is tier of insurance benefit is to the club itself, if it is an incorporated legal entity (recommended), or to its members, committee and officers or directors if it is unincorporated. The insurance products and policy limits are:

  1. Public & Products Liability protection for the club and its member volunteers in relation to claims of negligence in delivering club activities or providing products/equipment for use by members – £10,000,000
  2. Professional Indemnity protection for all club appointed coaches in relation to claims brought against them for damaging professional advice activity – £10,000,000 (Note coaches must be qualified and licensed by SSS or an appropriate alternative awarding body eg BASI, CASI. IASI etc)
  3. Directors & Officers Liability protection for all club committee and officials in relation claims brought against them in the course of their managing or directing the club – £5,000,000
  4. Employers Liability for all persons employed or contracted by the club – £10,000,000 each and every claim.

INSURANCE BENEFIT TIER 2

The second tier of insurance benefit is to the clubs registered individual members. For each individual club member the benefit is:-

Worldwide 365 day public liability insurance for snowsports (excl US) protecting the individual against claims brought against them for injury or damage to a third party.

Note 1: This is not travel and medical insurance cover which must be purchased by members from a suitable provider. SSS, along with GBS and the other Home Nation Governing Bodies have negotiated a competitive product to meet this need which is available here: https://www.bluefinsport.co.uk/snowsport%20travel/

Note 2: If members wish to participate in seeded (BASS, BARTS or FIS) level alpine racing competition they will require to register separately with Snowsport Scotland as a registered competitor, which will grant them a racer number for the seeding system, a race license and an upgraded public liability insurance for participation in competition.

All insurances are provided through Bluefin Insurance Brokers and underwritten by Sportscover Europe through Allianz. More info here: https://www.bluefinsport.co.uk/snowsport%20scotland/
