SSC Racing Cairngorm Program
How to Sign Up
Bookings for the 2024/25 season will open soon!
This season, training is split into blocks which are planned around the alpine camps. The 4-week blocks support those racing overseas to train in between our alpine camps, whilst the 3-week blocks, ad-hoc weekends, and half-term domestic camps allow those not on alpine camps to continue training in Scotland.
By organising training into blocks, we are able to know numbers in advance and therefore confirm coaches to ensure better continuity.
Blocks
- 4/5 Jan (can be added on to block below)
- 11/12 Jan – 1/2 Feb (4 weekends)
- 8/8 Feb – 22/23 Feb (3 weekends) during English champs camp
- 10-14 Feb half-term (up to 5 days)
- 1/2 Mar – 22/23 Mar (3/4 weekends)
- 29/30 Mar – 12/13 Apr (3 weekends) during British champs camp
- 31 Mar-4 Apr half-term (up to 5 days)
When there are BASS races running in Scotland, SSC Racing will provide FREE race coach support to members. On days where races are running there will be no training running – we expect that all trainees would enter the races anyway. If races are cancelled in advance we will endeavour to provide training instead. Race coach support must be booked in advance.

All pricing includes coaching only; no lift pass, food, or accommodation. The coach to athlete ratio is maximally around 1:8.

The aim of the SSC Racing program is to ski as much as possible to develop the technical aspects of ski racing, so training will go ahead on snow whatever the weather, so long as the lifts run. If Cairngorm is stormbound but the lifts are able to run at the Lecht, the program may move there for a skiing day. The Head Coach will communicate any alternative arrangements in the WhatsApp group.
If we are unable to ski, the program will move to Loch Insh Outdoor Centre. This is not a ‘make-do’ approach, but taking the opportunity to develop non-technical skills required for ski racing which cannot be developed on snow. This may include activities such as:
- Tactics – racing theory, course inspection
- Physical – fitness training, agility & coordination
- Psychology – mental preparation, psychology of race days
- Equipment – ski tuning, looking after your kit
In the unlikely event of there being absolutely no snow to ski on for a prolonged period (of several consecutive weekends), training will be cancelled and refunds issued.
