SSC Racing Cairngorm Program

Our domestic ski race training program is based at Caringorm Mountain, near Aviemore, and runs whenever there is enough snow. If snow conditions are significantly better elsewhere (e.g. Glenshee/Nevis/Glencoe), training may move.

The program is open to club members (just £25 annually), and trainees must be good skiers, who can ski on all grades of piste and use all kinds up uplift. No prior race experience is necessary, though you will get more out of the training if you do have some! Most of our trainees start their ski racing journey with their local dry slope club.

Training is open to U10 to U16 age categories (based on year of birth, see https://gbski.com/lists.php#ages for details). We do also welcome U8s on a case-by-case, trial basis, and this can be organised throughout the season by prior arrangement. The mountain environment at Cairngorm can be extremely harsh at times and all trainees need a certain level of independence to work in a group setting, so U8s need to be accompanied by a parent skiing with the group on the mountain for at least their first session.

Please email any enquiries about the Cairngorm program to racetraining@scottishskiclub.org.uk.

The SSC Racing team are delighted to be able to continue our sponsorship with Blues/Tiso which provides funds to help underwrite our the programme and allows us to keep training costs at affordable rates.

We look forward to seeing you on the hill!
