SSC BURSARY
The Scottish Ski Club Bursary in partnership with The Alpine Training Centre SCIO was launched in early March and, in less than 3 months, we achieved our target of £25,000!
This early success is great news as it means that the club can begin to consider bursary applications for race camps from this autumn onwards. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated.
Applications are now invited from SSC race trainees for the first group of bursaries, which will provide up to £1,350, covering the camp fee for one of the ATC training camps in the autumn and winter. Details of how to apply can be found on both our club website (www.scottishskiclub.org.uk) or at ATC (www.atccharity.com)
In addition, the outstanding success of the initial bursary appeal means that we can extend the help we give to our youngest members. This will be in the form of a heavily subsidised training week at Cairngorm next February, to coincide with the half term break. Further details to follow!
The financial support that our bursary programme provides will make a huge difference, and there is no better proof of this than the experiences of our club member Charlie Guest. Charlie has just completed her most successful season yet, scoring points in a number of World Cup slaloms, and winning a Europa Cup for the second time. In her early teens, Charlie was the beneficiary of a previous SSC administered bursary scheme and, without that support, she says that she may not have been able to continue racing.
The generosity of those who have donated so far will make a huge contribution to the development of our next generation of racers, thanks once again for your support. What an amazing club to be part of.
