SSC Racing Hillend Summer Sundays

12-2pm on select Sundays throughout Summer 2025.
£TBC per person, per session.

Conquering Hillend is without a doubt the toughest part of the ski racing summer season. It’s no secret that racers local to Edinburgh have a ‘home advantage’, and getting time to train there otherwise can be tricky. But no more!

These sessions are small so the quality of the training is high. There will be a mix of technical freeskiing and gate training. Ideally, when training slalom, we will set a full gate course and a parallel stubby course for minis, however it may only be possible to set one of these on days when the slope is busier. The sessions later in the summer will include some GS as we head towards the GS races in the autumn.

What to bring

  • All your usual ski & slalom equipment.
  • Skiing on a dry slope requires long sleeves, trousers, and gloves, even on the hottest day of the year. Thinner gloves are fine, e.g. mountain biking gloves work well on warmer days.
  • Skis need to be razor sharp to get anything out of a race training session at Hillend. If you aren’t able to do this yourself, speak to your local race shop.
  • Water & snacks to have handy at the bottom of the hill.
You may wish to bring liquid wax & edge files to maintain your skis during the session, or even multiple sets of skis if you have.
